The XXIII FIT World Congress Convened in Switzerland

The XXIII World Congress of the International Federation of Translators (FIT) was held from 4 to 6 September 2025 at the headquarter of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The theme of this year's congress is Mastering the Machine: Shaping an Intelligent Future.

A 6-member delegation of the Translators Association of China (TAC) headed by Mr. Gao Anming, TAC's Executive Vice President and Secretary General, and Editor-in-Chief of the China International Communications Group attended the event.

As one of the most influential events on the annual calendar of the global translation and interpreting community, the 3-day congress, highlighting keynote speeches, themed presentations, awarding ceremony, panel discussion and exhibition, brought around 400 translators, interpreters and terminologists from across the world together to discuss and collaborate on solutions to the global challenges facing the profession.

At the awarding ceremony on the first day of the congress, FIT announced winners of its prestigious awards. Nominated by TAC, two senior Chinese translators andlaureates of TAC's Lifetime Achievement Award in Translation, Ms.Shi Qin'e of Institute of Foreign Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Mr. Yang Wuneng of the Sichuan University, were awarded the Astrid Lindgren Prize and the Aurora Borealis Prize for Outstanding Translation of Fiction Literature respectively.

FIT is the federation of professional associations of language professionals across the world with more than 140 member associations in 70 countries and regions. The triennial FIT World Congress is its flagship event with the next gathering scheduled in Lima, Peru in 2028.
